Leaky Gut (Intestinal Permeability) or Candida Overgrowth
What is Leaky Gut and what causes it:
-
Leaky Gut can be caused by an overabundance of Candida.
-
Candida is a type of fungus (a form of yeast) that live in our intestines. It’s purpose is to aid with digestion and nutrient absorption. When our good bacteria gets compromised and there aren't enough of the good bacteria to keep the Candida in check the tails of the candida can whip against our delicate intestinal wall and create tiny holes which allow undigested food & toxins to seep into our bloodstream which eventually will cause havoc and lead to compromised health.
-
There are a number of things that can disrupt this delicate balance causing Candida overgrowth. For example, taking a round of antibiotics, which not only kill the bad bacteria/infection, but the good bacteria too. This can kill too many healthy bacteria and upset the balance. Furthermore, it’s not just the antibiotics that you’ve taken, it's also the antibiotics you've ingested through the consumption of animal products that have already been treated with antibiotics. That's why if you are going to eat animal products you should always eat organic and grass fed. Yes, you are what you eat!
-
The Standard American Diet feeds candida because it is a diet high in sugar and refined carbohydrates like breads, pasta and processed heated grains, while also high in saturated fats, and very low in fiber.
-
There are so many environmental contaminants that are destroying our water and food. For example, Glyphosate, the active ingredient in RoundUp, is a very dangerous carcinogenic antibiotic that has been banned in Europe, but is still allowed in the U.S. This is probably the reason why everyone is finding out they need to go wheat/gluten free. It's literally killing us!!
-
Synthetic chemical pesticides used to sterilize our crops not only eliminate the pests, but they destroy the bacteria that live on the plants that aid digestion and recolonize our GI tract.
-
Even drinking excess alcohol, taking oral contraceptives, and a high stress lifestyle can all contribute to Candida overgrowth.
Health issues caused by leaky gut:
Candida being an opportunistic organism when the conditions are right, can overtake the good bacteria and have a party in your digestive tract, causing you some undesirable symptoms such as weight gain, brain fog, fatigue, achy joints, gas, bloating, sugar cravings, nail fungus, and yeast infections. Many studies now show that Leaky Gut is the main cause of most autoimmune diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, allergies, asthma, acne, obesity, and even mental illness. It also plays a role in serious gastrointestinal conditions such as celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, and irritable bowel syndrome.

What you need to help eliminate leaky gut:

-
2 Bottles of Dr. Christopher’s Candida Sweep to eliminate the candida.
-
2 Bottles of Dr. Christopher’s Soothing Digestion to heal the gut lining.
-
1 Bottle of Udo’s Choice Plant Based Digestive Enzymes, or similar, to minimize any candida die-off reaction.
-
2 Bottles of Dr. Christopher’s Lower Bowel Formula to cleanse and heal the bowel and to ensure the candida are eliminated quickly.
-
Plenty of distilled water to help the cleanse the bowel and wash away the dead candida. Distilled water also increases the effectiveness of the herbs by 30%.
-
Plenty of fresh vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouted lentils so that you are not feeding the candida.
-
1 Bottle of Udo’s Choice Probiotics, used the last week to increase the healthy bacteria which keep the candida in balance along with eating plenty of fermented probiotic foods. (Anyone with Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) should use a spore-based probiotic like MegaSporeBiotic.)
-
A kit containing all these supplements is available at: www.drchristophersformulas.com
Diet Changes During the Cleanse:
-
No sugar, alcohol, grains, dairy or processed foods in any form because they will only feed the candida growth.
-
Drink a minimum of 2 quarts (double that if you're active or sweat often) of distilled water with all the herbs and throughout the day. Eliminate all sugary drinks, instead try some herbal teas made with distilled water.
-
Eat salads, vegetables, nuts, soups, smoothies, stir-fry (without sugar), seeds and sprouted lentils. If you absolutely need to have something sweet have a few berries.
-
No apple cider vinegar, probiotics, or fermented foods like sauerkraut until day 20 when the gut is healed.
-
Each Herb formula should be taken separately (15 minutes apart) and at least 30 minutes from mealtime.
-
Other herbs can be taken during this cleanse, but this cleanse process should be your main focus to heal the gut first.
Supplement Schedule:
Day 1 – Take 5 capsules, 5 times per day of Dr. Christopher’s Intestinal Sweep to kill the yeast, along with plant based digestive enzymes (Udo’s Choice) 3 capsules, 3 times per day with meals. Enough Lower Bowel Formula to have 3 bowel movements per day.
