My Philosophy About Healing
"Let food by thy medicine, and medicine be thy food"
Hippocrates - 440BC
I believe our bodies have the innate ability to heal themselves as long as we eliminate the toxins, stop doing what was making us sick in the first place, and begin nourishing with vital nutrients that our cells crave.
We need to start listening to our bodies instead of ignoring the warning signals. Pain is the most obvious warning signal. When we cover it up by taking an Advil, or something similar, we are in essence putting a piece of tape over our check engine light in the car. If you ignore that light in your car, it will no doubt be a very costly fix when it finally stops working...it's similar with our bodies. Ok, your insurance may cover the cost of prescription drugs and office visits, but like putting the wrong type of gas in your tank...eventually you'll have side effects from the medications or they'll cause you to have other symptoms which they treat by giving you another medication. Once you start down this path it's much harder to utilize herbs.

What Causes Disease?
Almost all disease is caused by a blockage somewhere in the body and this could be physical or emotional. Physical blockages are caused by man-made food, medicines, toxins, acids, and other matter that is foreign to our bodies. The Standard American Diet (SAD) is loaded with substances that chemists refer to as inorganic. With processing, food companies have destroyed all the natural vitamins and minerals, so they fortify them with chemical versions. The bottom line is: Our bodies aren't designed to recognize these inorganic man-made substances.
When our bodies can't recognize something, it doesn't know what to do with it, how to break it down, or how to eliminate it. When this happens, it decays and turns into a mucus condition which attaches itself to our tissues, organs, etc., causing disease. Until we eliminate these toxins and mucus, we can't have the health we deserve.

Good health is not just the absence of disease, but it also gives you protection from disease in the future. This explains why two people can be exposed to the same infectious germ and one will get sick and the other won't. Disease germs are scavengers that live on weak, wasting-away cells, mucus, and toxins. They can't exist in a healthy or clean cell structure. That's why people who eat healthy have a strong immune system and either don't get sick or bounce back more quickly.
On this website I will focus on how you can take your health back into your own hands.
The chart below describes the difference between Natural Healing versus the allopathic model used by our medical doctors. Keep in mind...Our medical system is excellent in an emergency, but not so good with getting to the root cause with chronic diseases.
Natural Healing vs Medical Intervention
Natural Healing
Medical Intervention
Symptoms
Determine Root Cause to guide
Dull, Suppress or Remove the Symptoms
Method of
Treatment
Utilizing healthy foods, proper elimination, movement, and lifestyle.
Interventions that attack, kill, and remove disease using drugs and surgery. Altering or removing organs.
Therapies
Natural wholesome foods & herbs
that create no side effects
Drugs or man-made vitamins and minerals from chemicals, animal waste and toxic elements that create side effects including death.
Therapeutic
Modalities
Lifestyle changes through mostly plant
food programs, cleansing & detox
programs, exercise, bodywork,
hydrotherapy, and emotional healing.
Surgery, radiation, toxic chemotherapy,
stimulants, sedatives, and suppressive drugs, dialysis, colostomies. LIFESTYLE CHANGES ARE RARELY DISCUSSED.
Emotions
Life is in our hands. Control with a positive attitude.
Our life is in someone else's hands. Fear, weakness, anxiety, and depression.
Responsibility
We are in control!
Doctor, please heal me...I've "caught" this disease.
Take control of your own health,
don't leave it in anyone else's hands!!
The Healthiest Diet
The best way to begin detoxing is to eat a diet of organic fresh fruits, vegetables, beans, legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains. In other words, a mostly Whole Food Plant Based (WFPB) diet.
Now, with that said, it will take time for even the most dedicated person. So a transition plan is necessary. To begin the transition process, start by eliminating or substituting some of your processed foods. A good place to start is eliminating anything with any type of sugar in it. Sugar is very destructive!
Learn how to read labels...do not trust what the seller puts on the front of the package. The front of the package may say "all natural" but there could be hundreds of chemicals that make up what the package claims is "Natural Flavors." Labels include a line that tell you how much "added sugars" are in the product...what's been added over and above the truly natural sugars like in fruits, etc.
Other foods that cause a number of other issues for many people include wheat and dairy products (unfortunately a staple of the Standard American Diet). Try keeping a food diary and write down what you eat and then pay attention to how each food makes you feel, both right after and the next day. If you weigh yourself daily and track your weight you can tell if a food causes you inflammation by seeing your weight fluctuate quickly. If you have issues with heartburn or acid reflux, for example, and see a certain food like ice cream causes an issue, instead of reaching for something to stop the pain, try eliminating or substituting that food and see how you feel. There are many wheat and dairy substitutes on the market today.
The way they process our wheat in the U.S. is also causing many issues. I noticed a big difference in how I felt when I switched to a gluten-free diet. A note of caution though, don't fall into the trap of substituting one processed flour for another. It might work for a transition, but processed grains are very bad for you, not only do they turn to sugar when eaten, but many are sprayed multiple times with a chemical called "glysophate" the main ingredient in Round-Up. It will kill the weeds in your yard, but it will also destroy your gut flora and make you sick. This is one reason to chose organic & Non-GMO products.
I'll be posting many more articles on how to transition your diet.
